On Saturday 26th June, the members of the "Asociación de Turismo Rural Sayausí" held their first assembly. The purpose of which was to legally constitute their organisation. This is the last stage of a process that has lasted more than 8 months despite the complications caused by the pandemic.
The first assembly was attended by all the members of the association, during which the statutes of the organisation were drawn up. The members of the board of directors were also elected, in which Mr Johnny Peñaloza Baculima was elected president for a period of two years.
For Johnny Peñaloza, the legalisation of the association has been an arduous but very gratifying process for the members of the collective, as it will allow them to carry out actions that contribute to tourism in the parish. For her part, Mrs Julia Albarracín says that this is an important moment for the association because thanks to the legalisation they will be able to enhance their local businesses and improve their income. From now on, the organisation has the challenge of managing tourism activities in a sustainable way to guarantee the well-being of its members and the people living in the parish.
The members of the Sayausí Rural Tourism Association mentioned that they have been looking for this process since they started working in associativity, so they are happy to have achieved this goal. With this, they hope to obtain great benefits in the plans they have for the future within their organisation. The process of legalisation of the association has been possible thanks to the support of the Legal Clinic "Gerardo Cordero y León" of the University of Cuenca, as a result of an agreement signed between the University of Cuenca and the members of the association.
