Last weekend, as part of the Warmi VIVAmente project, a self-defense workshop was held at a Jiu Jitsu academy 🥋✨. This initiative aimed to bolster the well-being of students from outside Cuenca who live alone, equipping them with practical tools for their safety and empowerment.
The session was made possible with the invaluable support of FAVIFE, a non-profit foundation dedicated to assisting families affected by femicide in Ecuador. Thanks to their collaboration, all necessary resources were provided to ensure a safe, professional environment throughout the activities.
Instruction was delivered by the professional sports team of Freddy Coronado BJJ, renowned for their expertise and structured methodology. Over the course of several hours, participants learned gripping techniques, joint locks, and movement drills designed to help them respond effectively to potential threats. Each move was clearly explained and practiced in pairs, fostering both comprehension and confidence in their own abilities 🤝.
In addition to hands-on training, the instructors led an empowering talk on female strength and resilience, encouraging attendees to embrace their inner confidence both on and off the mat.
This Jiu Jitsu workshop at the academy represents a significant step toward autonomy and the strengthening of support networks among out-of-town students. Warmi VIVAmente will continue to offer tourism and gastronomic experiences, as well as additional workshops on emotional and physical well-being, ensuring that no student feels alone or unprotected 🌆💪.
Stay tuned for upcoming activities as we work together to build a safer, more supportive campus community! 🎉
