On Monday, September 7, 2020, two inter-institutional cooperation agreements were signed between the mentioned municipality and the University of Cuenca during the session of the Cantonal Council of the Municipal GAD of Naranjal.
The first one is a framework agreement that allows strengthening cooperation bonds in different areas. The second is a specific agreement for cooperation in the project: Fostering a platform for research-based education to support sustainable development through Tourism in the Cajas Massif Biosphere Area (CMBA).
The local promoter of the project, Freddy Espinoza, attended on behalf of the University and briefly explained the role of the municipality within the project to the authorities and other attendees.
Currently, the Faculty of Hospitality Sciences is working with the Shuar Tsuer Entsa Community , the 6 de Julio Association and other sites of interest with the objective that students and researchers carry out research in the territory together with the communities and the authorities to support certain actions in favor of tourism as a means of sustainable development. In addition, some communities intend to form the Naranjal Tourism Cluster.
